Unhappy The reason my truck won't be going to SAR :(

So I'm not really sure what happened here it happened at prob a little over 1/2 throttle and about 3500 at 65 mph with 60 psi of oil pressure and at 170 degrees

and no the rod bearing was not seized
any ideas on how this happened???

P.S. It hid hit the valve a little but I can't tell if it was before the rod broke or after

damn, that sucks. Hopefully you'll find something to replace it with and come anyway. Boneyard engines are great to limp around in until you build another badass engine.

BTW, your sig says that's a forged LQ9? What brand rods were those, they look like powder metal rod rather than anything else.

Yeah see that's what I'm wondering they were suposed to be forged h beams but they clearly army and when I rebuilt it from a local engine builder building it I thought well maybe they were at least forged I beams but I don't even think they were that they just look like stock replacement rods

Looks like a stock rod. What were the specs supose to be? Stock length rods? I have a block at home that looks just like this. Rod just failed... But was older ls1 rods... Weaker than the newer style rods...

Well I know it's not a stock rod cause it's not cracked but as far as I know it should be a 6.125 rod

Those aren't like any ls rods I've ever seen... they look like SBC rods with pressed in studs. Somebody pulled a good one on you on that shortblock....wow

I know the feeling man, the same thing happened to me with an ls6. On the bright side it's an oppourtunity to build a better engine.

Ya, there are a few low end sets of rods only rated for 400 hp. It sux to see this happen. Whats the plan now? I bet u could find a 5.3 or 4.8 for pretty much free and throw it in there to beat on it for a bit... Just my .02
