I just contacted Hughes about the adapter HP3795 they are saying I need the concaved fles plate also. This stuff got me so confused now. I don't even know what too do. A sawp I tought was going too take 2 days is going on 1 week now because of this converter. If I go buy the Hughes extension and the ls1 bolts wiLl this converter work on the 5.3 Flywheel?

Hughes wants you to use the curved flex plate with their adapter, putting the adapter aft of the flex plate. The GM adapter goes forward of the flat flex plate, so you end up with the same spacing.
You are going to need the longer bolts either way, they have to go through the adapter and flex plate on both.

Wow you guys are cunfusing me just reading this. The hughes spacer plate goes on the engine side or the trans side. I know on the GM standard flex plate the spacer goes on the egine side right.

K guys I got the Hughes adapter. When I was at summit the told me too use the stock 5.3 flexplate bolts. They said those are. The same as the ls1s. I guess I will see in the morning if it works.

After i installed the adapter the tranny still wouldnt bolt up. I removed the transmission and found out the converter wasnt all the way back. After making sure the converter was all the way back we mounted the tranny without the spacer and it worked perfect. The converter lined up perfect without the adapter.
