I just ordered 2nd and 4th gear servos and the HD2 shift kit, so i went to a local dealership to get pricing on install and the tech guy said man that kit will be too harsh for your application! I said everyone i know on ls1truck.com has them, but anyway can yall look at my sig and see if it will be too much, I am going to have the shift kit done by a buddy of allen's at a dealer in San Antonio then have it programmed by allen.

What do yall think? I just want to squeak a tire in 2nd

I did all that plus the pinless 1-2 and 3-4 accumulator pistons, brown super duty 1-2 and 3-4 accumulator springs. I installed all the appropriate springs that come with the shift kit while I had the transmission apart. I can't wait to see how this thing shifts. I installed red alto clutches and steels and the 9 friction plate 4th gear clutch pack to I can tow or haul ass in 4th gear without worries. Oh yeah, kevlar 2nd gear band, too.

The servos will improve holding power which should improve the life of the clutches. The transgo shift kit will help fix common problems with the 4L60E.

A larger transmission pan and an external tranmssion cooler to bring the temps down. Be sure when you plumb in an external cooler that the cooler input is the output line from the radiator so that it will cool it further down than the radiator water temperture. It doesn't do much good to cool it down only to send it through the radiator to heat it back up again.

yeah i had planned on getting a new tci oil pan w/2quarts more and a B&M cooler behind my grill. I will just have to move my exhaust from under the transmission.

Thanks man, you were a big help.

Good luck with the new accessories!

On a side bar, I went down and met the owner of Rock-ontransmissions.com today. Pretty nice guy. He builds HD transmissions or rebuilds stock units of any type. His specialty seems to be the 4L60/700R4/4L65/4L80Es. He told me some of the things they do to make the unit indestructable. It sounds to me like he really knows his stuff. I think he said that he had a 4L60e unit up in Maine or somewhere like that, behind 1050+ hp LS1 and it survived 27 passes at the strip! Damn, that sounds strong. The guys on LS1Tech speak highly of his work. He ships his transmissions worldwide if anyone ever needs a good strong unit.
