    Opinions

Good many of you know the 5.3 is probably trashed. So trying to work on a plan that takes what I was doing anyway in a few months. Skip a few sections and have my white truck mobile again.
The old 5.3 was getting a set of prc heads in march with a set of 4.8 flat tops. Along with it I was going to have the block cleaned up and checked from top to bottom and new bearings, seals, etc put in.... WELP with all the things happening I feel it would be wiser to plan to scrap it.
NOW onto my idea. I can either find a core 6.0 and send it off and have all bearings and seals put in and IF any issues are found with the pistons or rods Id have whatever is bad replaced... I dont know how much money this would be.
OR find a good 6.0 short block that is in running condition....
The 6.0 build would consist of Prc Stage III 243 heads (they were the heads I picked for my budget 5.3 build). Prob 64cc (unless you guys can advise me otherwise), my TBSS intake mani, 90mm TB, all the bolt ons. a built trans, 4k stall, and 4.10s. Since I hate the thought of the "227 extreme screw up" cam going into this motor I will buy another cam and be happy. For my goals I dont feel a BUILT motor would be worth waiting on since I could possibly have a stock short block 6.0 faster then my goals of the h.o. 5.3 I was trying for as well as keep the budget decently close. While the parts for a built motor would have my truck down till possibly this winter...
As far as a good cam. LG G5x3 or a custom spec'd cam is prob going in it....
Advise... where I could find a good shortblock 6.0 for around 500 to 700.... A hug.... Anything helpful would be appreciated.

if you're wanting a core, call BishopAuto in Dallas. I know its a drive but they have them in stock, ready to roll out. All they sell is cores and parts, their specialty. There's no haggling with them and they guarantee their engines to rebuild.

Well, now that I hear your real intentions, I would scrap the idea of doing anything to the 5.3L. I would leave it as it and sell it.
Also sell that ginormous cam. Use the money to help fund the 6.0L build.

That is in a way my plan red... BUT I am thinking if I can find a 6.0 short block that is in running condition ready to rock with decently low miles. I could skip the whole machine shop step. IF I dont find one within a few weeks heck with it. Ill call bishop. Ive talked to them before and they have great customer service. I was going to build a mild 6.0 but bought my ss instead haha.

Well Its not what Id call a REAL intention. Its basically all the parts I was doing for a 347. I cant afford to do a 347 like I wanted to right now. I CAN skip to a 6.0 and stay in the right price range though... And that cam. I am seriously thinking of keeping it. FOR NOTHING but to remind me to not trust word and to double check EVERYTHING. It wont be ran. I honestly couldnt sell it to someone unless they were crazy. And didnt mind risking it....

Getting a motor with no number of miles and all is kinda along the lines of getting a full motor from bishop. They dont say they arent turn key. They just say they dont advise them to be put in and advise a full rebuild to make sure its up to par.... If a company isnt willing to list mileage and show more detailed pics Id be better off with bishop. Thinks its around 400 bucks for a lq9 block.

LQ9/LQ4 blocks are the same. What makes the difference between the two is a little bit stronger rod and flat top pistons.

Waiting on 2 people that may have some info for me! A shortblock lq4 and a complete lq9. The lq9 is around 60k and for 1200. Decent enough deal in my book. Ill run it with a stock lq9 and order a new cam for it. and use my intake tb and all my bolt ons and tranny. It wont be the fastest things on earth. BUT id be aight. and that block can take alot. Skeet proves that everytime he drives!
Leaning toward that g5x3 cam... Wanting a good cam. A cam that HAS been put in a lq9 before *haha screw experiments. Virgil ran that exact cam so I know it would fit*

A complete LQ9 with 60k for $1200? Yeah, I'd say that is a fair price.

And yeah, the LG G5X3 cam will work well with that motor and spray.
