I would have finished that marathon in about 3 minutes. Thats about how far my fat arse would go before they called the ambulance.

    Congrats on the fine finish.

    Awesome David, good job!!

So in running, how hard is it to make up that two minutes? Is that considered easy? Or is it like racing, where going from a 14 to a 13 is cake, but from a 12 to 11 is a LOT more work...

I think a couple minutes wouldnt be that hard, since this was my first race, I was somewhat conservative on the start and then towards mile 11 I really dropped the hammer to catch one of the kenyans. The middle of the race played a pretty crucial part in me loosing a little bit of time when I got the side stitch. I think dropping a minute or two could be done with another race or two under my belt. Plus with better practices and some longer tempo runs I think it shouldnt be too bad. Now dipping into the sub 63min and 64min is like going from a high 11 to a mid 10.. Pretty difficult, and really need to have an AMAZING race right from the gun. Hang with the lead pack the whole time and not drop off.

Good math, but that wasnt my average during the race. Came through 5k @ 15:3X, went through 7 @ 37:X, but from like mile 8.5 up until around 11ish I started to pick up the pace after the cramp. Mile 12 and then 13 were most likely right at 5 or faster. I lost quite a bit of time for about half a mile dealing with the stitch.
