06 5.3 trans into a 02 5.3

A friend of mine blew his transmission in his 02 5.3 ECSB. He found one on craigslist for but it's out of a 06 5.3. My question is will it be a direct swap will everything plug up the same? Thanks

Yes, direct swap if they're both 2wd or both 4wd transmissions.

The only thing you need to swap over is the Prindle switch. The 99-03 trucks had the 2 plug setup, and the 04-07 Classic trucks had the single plug setup.

my 03 has the dual plug on it. my dad broke it while i was in the process of putting it back in the last time and luckily the local trans guy was still at his shop at 8 o'clock at night and had one on the shelf

OP edited. I knew it was either the 03 or 04 model year when they changed Prindle switches.

Yeah, when taking the Prindle connectors out (on the 2 plug setup), make sure to get a lighter and heat them up for like 10 seconds before trying to get them unconnected. If you don't heat them--you WILL destroy the connectors, and possibly the entire Prindle switch.

Thanks guys I'm buying a 5.3 and tranny to swap out my 4.8 but i'm sellng the tranny to a friend since mines 4wd. Just wanted to make sure it'd work before I bought it.
