Only 2500+ trucks 05+ have discs on the back. This does not count utilities that are all disc. Not worth the effort although the discs are much better IMO. I'm not considering specialty models BTW.

there are companies that buy surplus parts from axle mfg companies and sell them for about $500 complete. I think Cowl327 or Txarkitkt knew of a place in DFW to get them.

you can buy weld on brackets for the calipers for under 90bucks. and you can bolt on calipers and rotors on the back. Use a search on ebay and you should find some.

So what does it take to go disk on the rear? Short of swaping axles could a guy get a different backing plate off of a Tahoe or Subby and use there rotors and Calipers with a proportion valve? Anybody thought about this? I also need a tune and ditch my stupid Predator but would much perfer a dyno tune over a mail order. My Vette tuner (Quality Motorsports) does not jack with pickups so I'm wondering could I get a mail tune and have it adjusted in San Antonio later? I'm in the Dfdub.

    Let me know!

Rob--There are brackets (as stated above) where you can adapt the trucks for rear discs. Just grab a set from the salvage yard from a How Or Sub and you're in business. It sounds like you are on the right track as far as things go, so yes--the proportioning valve is definitely required.
