    I have an s10, not a fullsize...

you can shave a few hundred lbs from a fullsize to get it faster while still maintaining most creature comforts and having all the room of a fullsize. why not do it? 250lbs is roughly 1/4 second at the track. relocating your tank and battery patially fixes traction problems that everyone with a truck complains about. asking why you would do weight reduction in a truck is the same as asking why you would try to make a truck fast? isnt this whole site based on making trucks perform better? one of the many things to help that is weight reduction.

I've managed to add more weight than what I've removed by deleting spare tire (not that I can get to it anyways LOL) and swapping rear bumper to rollpan. My truck weights 4480 without me in it, but I love going to the track and just changing tires to run. Like how some people make the track look like a swap meet with all these tailgates, passenger/back seats, center consoles, spare tires and what not layin around, then throw it all back on the truck lol
Not that I wouldn't want for it to be lighter but to what extent?. I like my goodies too much like having a sound system, comfy leather seats, power windows and not sweat my ass off while driving it, but to each his own.
