    Weld on a shock mount

I wanted to weld on another shock mount but every where i take it they says "ohh that axle housing is harden iron and will be almost impossible to weld" and then they give me a price quote of 185$!! im not paying that for just a weld! I can get that axle from the junk yark for 44$ much better price

Plus i thought it was stainless steel that was hard to weld??

Sounds like they just don't want to do the job. They would simply have to fab a new bracket, which is difficult to comprehend for some. Then weld it on. REALLY simple job. I know, because I've done it. The axle tubes are not iron, they are regular steel tube. Believe it or not, the axle tubes are just "wedged" into the center pig housing, from the factory. The axles keep everything together. On a car or truck with a clutch that gets dumped alot, the axle tubes can actully turn in the housing. So I also ran a bead all the way around where the tubes insert into the housing. I did a few other things as well. Rears are simple to work on.
