philosophy was by far the most fun i had in a college class, i liked it so much i took 2 classes in back to back semesters,

my fav test question was how to prove how you know that the world is real, and everything isnt just part of your mind or imagination?

wait....did you know i would type this???

I kinda had a feeling....... I was the exact same way, only I wouldn't listen to any side but my own. Now I think I have a wide open mind, I blame it on my fiance mostly.

    • To what extent do we have a moral obligation to people we don’t know? For
that matter, to what extent do we have a moral obligation to nonhuman living things? Treat all living things (nonliving as well) as you would want to be treated. Just because you can doesn't mean you should ruin it!

How about the environment: do we have a moral obligation to it? Same as answer to the first question.

    • What are the ethically legitimate functions and scope of government? If you want to be truly equal than act like you are. No one will respect you if you do not respect yourself. Government is not for this function.

What form of government is best? A simple set of rules to set order and allow freedom.

What is the proper connection between religion and the state? The state is governed by elected individuals. If those individuals are moved by a higher being that is the relationship.

Questions like these separate Democrats from Republicans,
conservatives from liberals, communists from capitalists, and theocrats from
    democrats.

    • Do people have natural rights? Yes.
If so, how do we know that? We all have the ability to act as we please.
Where do they come from? I would say from our creator.
What makes one person’s list of rights superior to another person’s? There are no persons superior to another.

    • Is there a God? This is for each to choose. If you think you made yourself from scratch than you have your answer.

Perhaps just as important, Does it make any difference
whether there is or isn’t a God? Everything makes a difference!

    • Do ends justify means? It would depend on what you used up in the process of the means.

    • What, if anything, is the self? The individual that embodies thought.
Is a person more than a physical body? The physical body is only a shell the person is the true form.
Do people really have free will? People have free will unless acted upon by a more powerfull force.

    • What is truth? To express only the true nature.
Beauty? Truly in the eye of the beholder.
Art? To perfect one's craft to its finest point.
    • Is it possible to know anything with absolute certainty? Not for all things at all times.
    • Does the universe have a purpose? I would assume that all things have a purpose.
Does life? All things have a purpose.
Is there order in the cosmos
independent of what the mind puts there? Just because we can't see order doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
    • What is time? It is the measure of life.
    • Could anything have happened before the Big Bang? Sure!

I like the chair argument. If everything is part of our imagination, why can't I imagine your chair away. Better yet, how did we both imagine the same chair there?

    • What is truth? Beauty? Art?
-truth is what is real(I know what is real is a whole other question, but you get the idea)
-beauty is going to be different for each person, as the saying goes, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder."
-Art is mearly an expression of an individual in whatever way he/she knows how to express it. paint, metal work, singing, sculpting, ect.

    • Do ends justify means?
    no, usually not.

    • Is it possible to know anything with absolute certainty?
    yes

    • Could anything have happened before the Big Bang?
God said "Hey guys watch this."

    • What, if anything, is the self? Is a person more than a physical body? Do
    people really have free will?
Still trying to figure this one out. I would say yes, but most people choose to conform rather than be truly themselves, which then takes away the idea of self and even free will.

Philo is stupid to an engineering degree full scholarship drop-out like me. Took an Honors Philosophy, Origins of Greek Civilization class at UTA that was 2:50 in length with no breaks once per week and was concluded with ONE grade for the semester....curriculum included the entire Iliad, Odyssey, all of Homer's crap, everything about effing olives, etc. team tought buy a pair of Greek history doctors.....no thanks. Philo is nothing more than people with useless degrees asking you for an OPINION then telling you that your subjective idea is somehow wrong. Screw that.
