    Fastener Kit

Sick of going to Lowe's everytime I need a scew or bolt. Is there a good general purpose fastener kit out there? Willing to invest some money but not thousands. Just want a decent selection of machine scews, nuts, bolts, washers, etc at the ready. Everything I have seen so far is either cheap Chinese stuff or really expensive. Any ideas?

Fastener kits are pricey for good stuff, as you've learned. There isn't any cheap way to get one unless you buy out a shop that is going out of business. I buy good stuff at OreillyAuto, Fastenal, NAPA, Lowes or HomeDepot. I usually buy a couple extra fasteners when I buy what I need so I'll have extras to put in my bolt box.

I have one of those three drawer plastic things FULL of bolts in one drawer and nuts in another lol. I really need a metal box for them.

I would just go to Ace/Fastenal and just get a general array of Grade 8 bolts/fasteners. From there, just use one of those multi-compartment organizer thingys...

The majority of my nuts and bolts I have are from things I've thrown away. I strip them clean of usable hardware before tossing them. There's nothing quite like free hardware.

i dont throw ANY fasteners away unless its rusted to hell, broken or cross threaded. i find so many uses for them its not even funny. yesterday i used one of my old bolts that held my fast 90mm intake manifold together as a stud to hang my level on.
