wiring question, very easy

when it comes to splicing in the few truck harness wires to the engine harness wires, do i simply cut the harness wire in half attach the truck wire? Basically T off the engine harness wire? I drew a crude picture to ensure I do it correctly, I REALLY dont want to fry anything when I hook this stuff up this weekend.

or even easier, use a quick splice. cheap at autozone, radioshack, etc.. and easy and safe to use
