ya its the speakers. I have two NBS crew cab silverados, both of which were equipped with the Bose factory setup, and both of which failed very quickly. What happens generally that ive seen is that the flimsy paper coned speakers get wet or moist over time and and tear around the rim. Ive seen this happen in my trucks and in a few friends trucks. Upgrade to a nice set of aftermarket speakers, its worth it. Also, the factory headunit will work great for the mean time if youre not into blowing all your money at once(although you will need a PAC module to utilize the Bose amp, sub and Onstar if you have it)..

..... And that my friends is why I always go aftermarket. I am 3 for 3 on pulling junk speakers out of my silvys. No to mention all of the ones I've seen in my years of installing.
