    ya, even though the 1000' deal makes for less of a show, its a safety issue and therefore i am fine with it. it was a pretty tragic thing when Kalitta died, and this is about the only option the NHRA had besides taking power away from the cars.... so they just did what they had to do

    No matter what John does with the rest of his career, he will go down as one of the greatest of all time.

    That being said, I don't look favorably at throwing races for any reason. They do it in NASCAR too between teammates. Teammate A has a fast car and maybe coulda won, but Teammate B is in a better standing in the points so Teammate A pushes him around the track. Just drive your race IMO.

    Its racing, and people will always have to face the tragedy of death if they compete in it. Thats one of the reason that drivers race, to cheat death. Anyhow, 1320' is what it should be, regardless of who passed. We've lost alot of great drivers over the years and 1000' probably wont change that, but time will tell......
