    Well i wasnt really sure if the tire would fit. I did do some research yesterday and found that 315 nitto DRs are smaller than typical 315s and fit fine on 9 inch wheels which is why i said to make sure with the manufacturer. Like i said, the max RECOMMENDED for stock rims is 285. I have no reason to push that recommendation but, again, some 305s are smaller. The consumer has the last call. Please make the wisest decision.

    I guess I am one of the unsafe people because I don't plan on putting aftermarket wheels on mine anytime soon, all my play money goes to my woods truck which I will be pulling on a trailer behind my 2000 GMC with the 285's and will pull the same load with it on 305's or 315's which ever I think will fit after I install my torsion bar keys.

    Which don't get me wrong Id love to buy a set of new wheels for it but unless I find a sweet deal on some used aftermarket 16x8's Ill stay with my stock wheels for now.

    Its your life, not mine. If you want to be reckless with your life, that's cool, but don't give out information to others so they can unknowingly risk theirs. At least state the safety hazards.

    Thats some good and crazy opinions... ill just stick with the 305-70-17. until i plan on lifting my truck.. which ever truck i have owned has been but probably not this one.

    IMO if GM had just kept the 4x4 truck a straight axle vehicle, tire size and lift options would be much simpler. Granted they drive smoother with IFS but a 4x4 isn't made for that. They should have at least made it an option haha that would be nice.
