    I did not try it in 4 lo. Just 4hi and auto4wd.

    Well if the actuator isn't letting it go from 4wd to 2wd the I guess the same would happen from 4lo to 2hi since it still needs to disengage the front axle?

    Replaced the actuator a little bit ago, and still not working. So far I'm down $93 with nothing to show for it.

    So that leaves the encoder or dash switch. I get some various signal voltages from each range, but don't even know what they should be.

    You need a scan to pull codes for the transfer case module and to check data. This would cost less than $93 even at a dealer. If you were closer I'd help.

    Scanned it and got a C0379 front axle circuit malfunction code. So I guess it's not the encoder?

    Encoder v: 3.43

    Not a common code which to me leads to wiring damage in most cases.
