at $13000 for a base engine it better. Add another 3-4k for everything to make it work. The ls7 engine is old technology, too, and it would only take about $3000 in work on the LS3 to beat an ls7. GM built too good an engine in the ls3 making it really hard to sell the Z06 packaged Vettes. Lets talk LS9!

I like the way you think Greg!

I will like my 6.0...once I dump some money into it.

then again you still get a 6.0 with a few bucks into it making more power then both of those.

right around 550rwhp seems to be limit on NA rwhp motors before they get to radical to some. a healthy 6.0 can get there same as a 377 as in 6.2 or 7.0

it ain't that I'm too big to listen to the rumors, It's just that I'm too damn big to pay attention to 'em..That's the difference

Same HP level and close to 100 lbs heavier still means slower in the long run.

let me ask you this.. are you running an aluminum block in your truck? 1/10 isnt much to worry about for most ppl. if i worried about weight i wouldnt have a fullsize truck

If I had it to do all over again I would be. Let me ask you this, when you were running your 408 before it took a dump would you ever dream of trying to make a little ol' 4.8L mean by putting a turbo to it and pushing it to the limits?

I know DBRODS' LS2 is aluminum and he's faster than I am with less cubes and less nitrous. 400 lbs makes you about .4 seconds faster.

yes for every 100lbs its 1/10th but if i was worried about 90lbs which would almost be a full tenth im sure i could make it up other wise besides the weight of a motor.

as for 4.8L no never once thought of it but it was good price to get truck driving.

Dbrods probably has a lighter truck and better chosen mods. his motor weight isnt what making him faster

if we were worried about weight we wouldnt be modding trucks for actual drag racing.

the price of th LS3 isnt worth the performance one bit. now if hte money was same as ls1 or ls2 or LQ then yes go with LS3 but since ppl want crazy money no sense on using a LS3 when its nothing more then a 6.0 with a .060 bore. you could build an iron LS3 if you chose to for less then the cost of a LS3
