Should be very nice! You can get really close to 500 to the wheels with full bolt-ons and a cam swap with a LS3 setup... Keep us posted!
30' Ford Model A Tudor Sedan - Custom chassis - Big bore LS2 - twin B76's - Glide - 9" w/ 3.07 gears - 30" DR tire - 2k lbs cruiser
sure will guys,i just love the power of the denali,so im going to quit imagining that power in a rcsb and DO IT TO IT!!
the LS3 engine will build tremendous power right out of the box and is lighter than any LQ based engine making you instantly .1 seconds quicker just because of the weight savings. You also get a warranty with the new crate engine that you won't have with a boneyard engine. You can buy a weaker engine, build it up and make as much power as the crate LS3 but its still going to be heavier and if it breaks you'll have to pay to do it all over again.

90lbs isnt much to even consider espeically since the motor in hte vehicle is already iron. that warrenty isnt going to be worth anyting once you mod the motor so what is the real point? also if he is buying if from a boneyard there is no warrenty.
the LS3s arent that impressive to me to be honest. you can get more power for less money with your typical 6.0. everyone is on the bandwagon of hte LS3 heads. sorry they dont do much for me when a smaller CC runner makes more power/torque. their heads come with such larger CC runners and their performance is unsatisfactory. ppl toss on a ported version which flows even more and has a even larger CC runner and still cant touch the performance of a AFR or TFS or ETP.
ppl brag about that motor. its 420hp crank...is it really worth that much more money?

technology > displacement w/ out technology
displacement w/ technology = no replacement for displacement
6.2 FTW! that thing is gona be a monster Zach!
...and... how can you say that a smaller motor with the same OR older technology will perform better??
were talking about performance, not cost, cause i know the LS3 costs more

01 Silverado
Newer technology is there for a reason. GM didn't spend millions in engineering to build an inferior engine. Just because you don't think its better doesn't mean it isn't. You're comparing 10 year old technology that everyone and their brother has been working to make better vs. an engine thats only been available for two years. I'll bet in 8 years you'll be singing a different tune.![]()

I do like the 6.2's but at that price you could build a budget 427 or at least a killer 408. Yes you can do Cam and valve springs and see 500hp on a ls3 but i cant justify that for the swap now if i was in the market for a vette yeah sure id save me some money over a z06 but this swap idk. Either way its you truck so do what you want
using mitch's therory
408 with technology > 6.2 with technology
