The only reason I suggest that was to keep things cool around the downpipe. For example, mic's a/c line above the downpipe was smoking after a run or two, lol.

I'm sure o2 placement similar to what I suggested is ok, I just said that to make sure he doesn't put them both in the crossover pipe.
