Thread: Stall for a turbo set up?

Stall for a turbo set up?

I just ordered my FLT 5 and going to get the PI torque converter.

My question to everyone is what stall should I get?

I have a Crew Cab 4wd 5.3 with 3.42 gears and a trick turbo front mount set up with the 62 turbo. Mostly just daily driven. What would be a good stall and why?

    Thanks,
    Dan

    i would shoot for like a 2600-2800.

One of the reasons why is because its a stock cam with stock lift with stock gears and a smaller turbo. i was thinking about going with the same stall for my stock setup and my STS 67, but since im gonna be putting in a cam soon im gonna shoot for a 3000-3200

You want a stall that just gets you in to full boost. So I guess you need to see where full boost comes in. You could go higher, but I'm sure you will start to have traction problems if you don't already.

Cam isn't out of the question. But right now I feel like the powerband is already too high for this truck. I think a bigger motor is a better idea.

I think you are right and saying I need to see where full boost hits and go for that as a stall speed.

I would call PI and tell them your setup and they will recommend a converter. Go to the source.
