    Min wage

How does the goverment expect anyone to live off of $6.55 an hr? They are SLOWLY increasing min wage, just got bumped up .70 yesterday.

I am lucky to have parents who let me still live with them at the age of 21. I spent all summer searching for a job that I could make enough money just to live on my own. It didn't happen, every place is paying from min wage up to $8.50 a hour. I did find a few places that pay $10.50 to $14.25 an hr. But they wanted people with experience and needed no training. I had 4 years of experience for one of the places, but they wanted to hire someone from HS not college. Another place I had no experience working there but I know how to treat people and talk with them, still they wanted someone who has worked at a place like it, or was a female. Looking at a 1 bed room small apartment is about $750 a month. The price of food is rising, to have a weeks worth of food, it cost about $150. Gas well we all know the price of gas haha. So you add up rent, food, and gas, that bill will put you over $1,000. Working 30 hrs a week, and going to school is not the smartest thing to do, but some people have to do it. So 120 hrs of work a month at min wage puts you $786. Well that covers you sleeping in a bed every night, no meal or getting to school and work. Working for $8.50 an hr will give you $1020 a month. Oh wait they take out taxes on everything

Basically what I am saying here is how do they expect anyone to live off of this??

yeah, working at Pizza Hut. Gotta get a job at a highbrow place, not McDonalds. If you see a lot of high school or college kids eating there you know you're not going to make any money there because they are the worst tippers.

Minimum wage was not designed to be a living wage, it was designed to pay unskilled labor. I waited tables when I went to college and made ok wages for what I was doing. The best money was made working for friends and relatives doing whatever came along. Skilled labor pays much better but requires experience that you can't get going to school. I thought you were bankin' you talked about getting a supercharger! Look around for some better paying jobs, they are out there.
