    LQ9 vs LQ4

The LQ9 Has a 10 to 1 compression and the LQ4 has a 9.4 to 1 compression. Also the LQ9 has flat topped pistion and the LQ4 Has dished pistions. The difference in HP is like 25 or 30 the LQ9 being the one with more HP because of the higher compression.

If you want to go all mortor get the LQ9 if your going to go forced induction go with the LQ4.

yes there is a difference. LQ9 comes with more hp, and tq. It has flat top pistons giving you more compression. It comes in the 03+ ss silverado, VHO, VMAX, Caddy esclade. Depends on which lq4 you get for the hp ratings. I love my lq9.

LQ9 is the best for an all engine application, even with nitrous. It will also take FI but will not be able to handle as much boost pressure. LQ4 is best for a lot of boost.

yeah, a sports car is going to wear out more tires than a lame boulevard cruiser, too. Should you buy one? Thats up to you. The only reason a LQ9 will wear out before a LQ4 is because you're constantly having fun and thrashing it to death.

The LQ9 will handle 5-6psi and the LQ4 will probably handle 7-8 reliably.
