Man, it sounds like he is almost "under camming" you motor. Sure, you will have FI, but to me, that cam sounds small for what a blown LQ9 should be able to handle....

The only way I know to prime an oil pump is to pour a heavier weight oil into the pump right before you drop it down and bolt it in. You are going to have to drop the oil pan when installing the pump. And you are also going to change the oil for the cam, so I would go buy the most basic grade of 10W-30 oil you can buy--and get one quart of a 0W-20 or 5W-20 and pour that one into the oil pump right before you install it. Then, run the motor till it reaches normal operating temps and change the oil--you should always do that after a cam change anyway--and change the oil to 5W-30 Mobil 1.

A new timing chain will not add power. After many, many miles of beating on the motor, the timing chain will become loose. And if there is a good "wiggle" to the chain, then you should replace it. I have seen motors with up to 75k on them that do not require a new chain. It all depends on how tight the chain feels when you try and wiggle it...

You can prime the pump through the access plate just above the oil filter, its bolted to the oil pan. You'll need a pressurized canister with oil in it to do it that way, though.

Too much stretch on the chain is good for high RPM, a shorter (advanced cam timing) chain gives you more torque.
