Ive found it best to call him about 7:30am our time, he gets there very early. His website is proheads dot com it has his shop info on the site. I think it would be best to call him, once you talk to him you will see why I recommend him. He did Casey23's motor and Im sure you've seen how happy he is with their service he even has it in his sig.

Sweet! You're gunna love that thing. I would go ahead and get all of your mods on while the motor is sitting outside the truck--its waaaaay easier than when it is sitting inside the engine bay...

Well Richard and Proheads.com gave a a cam recommendation after checking out the thread it is 208º/214º .554"/.559" with a 114º lobe center.

I asked him if he has a kit with all acc needed to install pushrods springs etc etc etc. I want to be sure to use good springs.
Should I replace the rocker arms during the cam swap. I want to be sure I do not have a broken rocker down the road.

Also can you prime the oil pump on an lq9 if so how? I want there to be plenty of oil where it needs to be before firing it up. I have no idea how long this motor has been sitting. The water pump is going to be replaced also.
Anyone know if the water pump is any different between the 99 5.3 and the 2002 LQ9?

Also thanks to everyone that gave there thoughts recommendations and opinions. I greatly appreciate it.

How many miles are on the engine?... PM me when the time comes and I will give you instructions on getting the motor primed before start up so you dont have a problem .. All truck waterpumps are the same ... Springs are very important with FI !!. I think there are gains to be seen with just a spring install with 8-9psi ... mine at 90,000 miles would only make 9.1psi on the dyno with a 15lb spring in the wastegate !!!... No need to change rockers... and DONT clean them before reinstall.. remove them and keep them clean then reinstall them just as you took them off.. You can contact harlen sharp and have stock rockers Bushed and get rid of Neddle bearing problems forever !! You Did the right thing and made the Call !!... Richard is Great people and Rex is a hell of a guy also !!

45000 on the engine. I will definitely give you a call about priming it. Any HP gain from a different timing chain? I would like to get as much hp as possible before dropping the engine in.

and i think thats a good choice on cams ... It will help that whipple run on a big engine and good power problem with a near maxed out blower it would be reason to overcam the engine and kill the setup.. Richards idea is Great ... LS2 timing chain is like 20-30.00?... I am more then sure under 50.00...
