in my opinion, i think a well tuned exhaust system, (not that any of us can change our exhaust everytime we make a dyno run), will yield the greatest gains because when both of my tail pipes rotted off the muffler, my truck ran like ****, besides sounding loud and hollow. i actually went under the truck and welded one of 2 exits shut. after that, it felt torqueyer and sounded a little better too.
i think that a certain level of ''back pressure to hp'' is very crucial for maximum hp and torque. just my opinion. theres probably some science
behind it, im just not smart enough to know what it is.

there is my fav vido of cut outs..

    yea they are worth it

if you get the right ones they wont leak and if they do they have a LIFETIME warranty.
Race Ready Performance // Electric Exhaust Cutouts

they maybe be about 100 bux more then QTP but its worth it for a life time warranty on leaks and the motors wearing out. just make sure you fill out the warranty card an mail it in to them with in like 15 days.

If you do get a butterfly cutout get the DMH cutouts if you get the guillotine style get the Dougs. They are worth it, if tuned for them on a cammed motor you can drop as much as 3 tenths. I dropped a tenth with mine on a stock 5.3 but I already had catless true dual exhaust so the restriction wasnt much at all anyway. Never tested it out when I had the 418 or 420.

He said he did it on this guy's camaro and he ran 0.2 slower with the cut outs open! I really want to do them but this kinda changed my mind! I have long tube headers and no cats so i think its perfect! He said that my exhaust is already free flowing enough and it won't make a difference! I see what he is saying but just want some more advice on the subject (cut-outs or no cut-outs) Thanks
my advice is dont go to a muffler man for performance advice...just tell them what you want and tell them to keep their retarded comments to themselves. the last muffler man that i went to said that my longtubes would kill my performance and that my corsa muffler was a POS that wouldnt make power because it didnt have any backpressure. he also said that without cats my truck would never run right again. in the end i told him to do what i wanted and keep his comments to himself. i went to him for a great reputation of quality. wish i could show him how my crappy combination was working today!

this was deer park muffler if anyone is wandering. i would recomend him to anyone for his quality of work but the man loves to speak out of his poop shoot.

Yeah, each motor and exhaust setup will respond differently to e-cutouts. If you have a cam with an exhaust lift bias, then cutouts should work well for you, dropping your times by roughly .1-.2 secs... Just make sure you buy a decent brand--like Ricky, I also have RaceReady cutouts. I researched them pretty heavily before I purchased them. I figured that I would spend a little extra money to get the lifetime warranty piece of mind. I can open and shut mine while accelerating with no leaking issues. They open and close perfect every time! I have not tested to see if my cutouts dropped my 1/4 mile times, but it does feel slightly quicker with them open. If you have enough supporting mods, go ahead and get some. They are awesome and makes your truck sound badass at the flip of a switch--but for soem reason, I get crappy MPG when they are open...oh yeah, probably cause my foot is stuck in it all the time when they are open!
