So thier statement seems a little misleading, won't any tranny hold 1st 2nd and 3rd to any RPM as long as you leave the gear selector in that gear? That aside, my question was about how it functions in daily driving and if I follow you it sounds like you don't need to change your driving habits or style, you just drive like always, and that's what I was wondering. Thanks.

if you take your current truck out for a drive do this, put it in 1st gear and nail the throttle. What will happen is it will run up to the pre-programmed max RPM and then shift into second even though only first is selected. The same thing will occur if you put it in second next.

After the shift kit iinstall, just drive it as before and the transmission will be pretty much as it was before. Tell your installer that you do not want hard shifts and they'll be sure to fix it so it shifts normally. You should also buy a new valve body seperater plate to go with the shift kit so that if the old one is worn the new one will fix the wear. Some guys like to replace the steel check balls with newer style plastic balls. I prefer the steel myself.

I didn't know that. Either I've never ran the RPMs up high enough in my Dodge for that or the Dodges operate differently. This is the first Chevy I've owned so this is all new to me. I really appreciate the time you and everyone else is taking to bring me up to speed.

Going back to the tranny coolers. This is a 2K Tahoe, 5.3. Would it have come stock with a tranny cooler? Like I said in my earlier post, I'm more familair with the Dodges. On that the whole front end opens up and it's easy to see. This is so enclosed I'm having a hard time seeing in front of the radiator. In looking through the grill, on the drivers side of the radiator there is a 2" wide set of fins that sits in front of the radiator and runs from top to bottom. In the middle there is another smaller radiator of some sort that sits in front of the main radiator. It is maybe a third the width of the main radiator and about as tall as the middle cross bar on the grill. I'm guessing this is a tranny cooler, if so any idea if it would be stock or after market?

That will be a stock tranny cooler.
The cooler on driver side is an engine oil cooler.

Thanks, I really appreciate it. So it sounds like I need more than the stock cooler. Is it easier to replace the stocker with the aftermarket rather than try to hook up a second?

So do you use the existing plumbing and just mount the larger cooler or do you replace everything?

Thanks, once again I really appreciate the time and feedback. I wonder if you can buy just the cooler and not all the lines and save a buck or two? I imagine they just sell complete kits.
