sounds like fun man! if you have the money to spend, i would definatly go with a good set of heads and a big cam. there are some good deals on the patriot heads if i am not mistaken, cant remember the website though, but it was on this board somewhere if you want to dig around. i think they were around $1300 or so, ported. go with the FAST intake also.
you say it is not a daily driver, so i you could even go with a cam in the 230-240 dur and 590-600 lift range. i am pretty sure you have to flycut pistons on ls1's around 615-620 lift, not sure on the truck motors.
put you a big stall in it, 3600+, and with the those 4.56's it should be a beast at the track. will probably have some money left over for some spray too...
