Most of the time the converter gets replaced or cut open and cleaned when a trans blows. You don't want to have all the gunk in there when you install a fresh one.

Yeah, but is my trans def going to blow? I was thinking it may just start slipping and that would be my cue.

What's usually really good is that the filter catches the garbage before it goes into the convertor. I've rebuilt mine when they've blown and the convertor has been good every time afterwards. You could slowly gather up the parts to be prepared for a buildup that way all you would have to do is pay someone to do the labor and any additional parts requiring replacement.

    ok.

Again, the fluid was dark (DARK) and there wasn't much of it. Which I would assume the less there is, the quicker it would get dark ('burnt' maybe?). But like Billy said, that dark fluid may be a result of clutch material. So I guess it's a waiting game.

Not sure if you're still in here Allen, but I'm wondering if I need a tune? Off the line is great, but it's shifting a lot smoother (remember how you said you could feel everything the tranny did...might have been due to low fluid). Anyway, it's shifting smooth now and maybe because the shifts aren't AS noticeable, it seems (might be me) slower once you get going.
