awesome, thanks, now, is there any way to make the 1999-02 lq4 6.0 able to be bolted right up to my 1999 4l60e or is it just not happening? Ive heard 2 different thing, ive heard the crank is too long and just wont work, then ive also heard it will indeed work if i install my 4.8 flexplate onto the lq4 6.0....anyone know for sure? Once i know for sure i can start looking for one.
    thanks

I believe the 6.0 with the flat flexplate wont bolt up but if its dished like the 4.8/5.3 one then u should be fine. Also another way of knowing if its the early style 6.0 is the iron heads. Maybe someone else will chime in n clarify.

All years will work, iron head models are weakest. If its a year with the longer crank run the flat flexplate and adjust the 3 converter holes. If its the short crank either run the spacer with a flat flexplate or no spacer with dished flexplate

ok, what years would have the longer crank and what years have the short one? also, what do you mean by adjust the 3 convertor holes, and, what is my stock flexplate in my 1999? Im sure i will get wichever one is most available so im assuming that would be the LQ4? what years would they be found in and what would i need to make that one bolt to my stock tranny, the spacer or the altering of the bolts? Or better yet, i dont care wether its an LQ4 or LQ9, just using it to replace the 4.8 when it dies, so a better question would be, what years would be the easiest to drop in and bolt to my stock 4l60e trans with the least modifications or rigging?
    thanks again, awesome info here!

99 and some 2000s. If it has a flat flex plate it has the long crank snout. Some had a spacer you could remove but never trust that it's removable. If it has a flat flex plate, move on unless you're going to an older 80e or it comes with an 80e.

yes, any 6L with a flat flex plate or spacer hanging out 3/8-1/2" from the oil seal.

so ive been doing some more reading on this swap and its getting more complicated, not only did the early 6.0's have a longer crank, but so did the 4.8 and 5.3 also! My truck is a 1999 so the 4.8 in it is going to have the long crank, meaning the flexplate in it wont work with the 6.0...
