The Rod and Main I did myself. Which they all checked out to be exactly what they should be. The Cam bearings a local machine shop. The bearings arent in wrong or nothing they are just wrong. Which is weird because the oil passages all lined up perfectly.

THere are two different LS cam bearings, he must have put in the ones for the newer engine rather than the older ones or buggered up the rear bearing.

Red you mind being specific on these two different bearings. And it was actually the front bearing that was for sure messed up. The rear of the cam wouldnt even begin to go in. And I also have a question relating to what you said. if there are two different cam bearings why isnt there a specification on ordering a camshaft?

There is one bearing size up through 2004 and another size, like a C23 for the later blocks. Here is one for the early blocks. I'm not sure on the dimensions of the bores but they are different. If you drive the larger bearing into the older block the bearing bore will be too tight.

So the block is what is different between the years and if you keep the right bearing in there the cam will still fit?

Yea but also there are different size bores for the bearings but most come with the instructions for where to install the bearings

Yeah, they bore the block so that a thicker cam bearing can be used. The cam journal size is the same for all the years, it's just that the block is bored larger. Due to the soft malleable nature of the bearings it is physically possible to put the newer bearing inside an older engine. Do you have the PN of the bearing they installed? Did they buy and install the bearings or did you get them? Durabonds are one of the best you can get, they are coated and made in one piece rather than made flat originally and then rolled into a circle.
