i would do a bit of research before giving up, maybe some training classes or a dog whisperer lol

i had 2 beagles which they never really got house trained 100%. they currently live in their own house and i go there everyday to feed/ water them and spend time with them. great dogs but just not indoor dogs.

If it wasn't so cold then she could stay outside, if she hadn't ruined my furniture she could stay here. This has still been a very difficult decision.

I guess I missed what kinda dog it is. Most dogs that are ''real'' dogs are fine in the cold. Mostly. unless its like always below freezing and snowing lol. My dog loves the cold. He wont even sleep in his dog house, or under the porch. He sleeps in the middle of the yard in the open.

What is your definition of a "real' dog? I assure you my 2 danes are "real" dogs and they do not have the coat to be left out in the cold and thier size makes the heat tough on them as well....They are inside dogs and I assure you they are no more less of a dog then any other dog tossed in a back yard.

my blue heeler has been a great indoor dog. she loves to run tho, no doubt but she's a great dog all around. she's 1.5 years old and i will be getting another dog like her eventually. i made my gf give her dog away cuz i couldnt stand it and that was tough but the dog had similar issues as to what ur describing... it was a jack russell terrier and turned out to be a decent dog. it now lives with her mom and dad and has had major health issues since we gave her to them. they spent money on the dog we never couldve afforded so it prob saved her life looking back.

Like I have said, I don't want to just give up on her. I have housebroke many dogs in the past and have had hard ones to break. She was fairly easy given her age but the whole "I'm going to piss on the couch or bed because I don't want out" thing is a little too much. She knows where to go andwhat to do but deliberately refuses sometimes. Like the other night when she went and crapper in the floor and then came and pissed in the bed. If she would pee on the floor it wouldn't be a big deal because I have tile throughout the house.

Real dog as in a dog that can survive outside on their own. I sense a little tude.

Jeff, come on. We all know there is only preference when describing a "real dog." It is plain ignorant to say a Great Dane isn't a real dog. They have a thin coat which is not suited for cold weather. A Husky is a dog that has a thick coat which IS suited for cold weather. Even Devin could figure that out.

Tell me something...if it was 30 degrees outside--would you rather have, let's say, a snowmobile suit on...or would you want to have flipflops, shorts, and a short sleeve t-shirt? The person wearing the snowmobile suit would survive better than the clown wearing the beach attire.
