Did you get GM factory head gaskets? If not, you can get Felpro. I found out last night that the Felpro head gaskets are the same damn thing as the GM ones. Buy either one--whichever has the lower price--because they are the same.

As for the head stud torque procedure, I would apply 30 wt. oil to the head studs and then torque them down to whatever ARP says. The procedure is shown below...

yeah i spoke with the guy at scoggin dickey and thats what he said they were. i had heard the thicker gaskets can cause a loss in compression but thats just what i heard. stock is fine anyhow. how about as far as antifreeze goes i can see orange antifreeze in the block so i need to empty that or fill or more? the system will get flushed after a few break in miles anyhow right?

Yeah, a head gasket can vary in thickness, raising the height of the head from the block--making the CC size larger--thus causing a drop in compression. If you have the Dexcool--stay with the Dexcool. Or you can just add water and run it through a few heat cycles and then do a COMPLETE coolant flush and add either Dexcool or the green stuff. But DO NOT mix the colors. If you feel like you did not get the entire amount of Dexcool out when you flush it, do not fill it with green stuff. Dexcool works just fine...

If you want cheap-cheap....you could just pee in it...

Yeah, Dexcool=orange. And depending on what you have eaten or drunk recently, your pee could be orange too...

be sure you get 100% of the water out of all of the bolt holes in the block. If you do not you can crack the block when tightening the head bolts. I use a syphon type sprayer on my compresser to draw any moisture out of the holes.
