There is a 6.5l 1/2 ton z71 out here where i live. They came from the factory like that too. This isnt the frist one i have seen either so maybe asside from stiffer front springs and suspension pieces i dont think the weight will be a problem considering that the 6.5 probably out weighs the d max by a little bit since the dmax has aluminum heads. Ill look at my buddys truck, hes got a 1 ton waiting to put in a rebuilt 6.5l I have a 1/2 ton truck waiting for me to get off my ass and build a motor for it so i will look today and see the differences in the two frames. Im sure if any difference the front crossmembers will be different. You can solve that with a 4x4 frame though. That would be cool to see a d max in a 1/2 ton 4x4. 4 wheel burnouts! you will probably need 4wd just to keep the tires from spinning or put 20" wide tires in the rear. 4wd or not i think it would be a smokin fast truck
Oh, one more thing. the turbo might have to be relocated cause it might hit the firewall.

I HAVE A 94 EXT CAB SWB 1/2 TON WITH A 6.5 TURBO DSL. IT RUNS STRONG FOR WHAT IT IS. I KNOW THE 6.5S WERE NO SHOW BOATS , BUT IT HAS LASTED THIS LONG AND RUNS GREAT. IT PULLS LIKE CRAZY, JUST NOT FAST.
