    winter cold vs. summer heat

Heres my question. How much power is lost when u go from running in 30 degree temps to 80 degree temps. in the winter time it feels like im running a 100 shot of nitrous, and in the summertime, it feels like i lost 2 cylinders. it really sucks. not sure if the maf is working properly, even though it was dyno tuned.

yeah, when its cold the oxygen molecules are more densely packed together. When you open the throttle and the cool air comes rushing in, its like having a supercharger pushing more air into the engine.

ok people, i appreciate the responses, but we can get past air density. i was lookin more for hp numbers and if maybe my sensors such as the maf may not be functioning properly. i did hit it by accident a couple of years ago when i was taking out the honeycomb screen.

if you suspect that the air temp sensor is bad, you could borrow a MAF from a buddy and see if it makes a difference. If so, buy a new one. If you descreened the MAF, buy a new MAF and put it back stock so it can work properly. You're probably running lean right now if you're descreened.

a failed IAT reading -32* should cause the PCM to fatten the fuel mixture up. That would compensate for the bad air readings over a descreened MAF meter.

thanks red, when i hit passing gear, my truck looks like a diesel with the amount of unburnt fuel that comes out. plus i get horrible gas mileage in the summer

That sounds like you're having severe detonation problems. I'd take your truck somewhere and get a dyno tune or live tune with a wideband hooked up to the exhaust. You should not be able to see it do that under acceleration normally. If you don't take care of it before long you may knock the bearing out of the bottom end with that much knock. You may not hear it but I'd bet its doing it.
