Air filter directly on throttle body coupler size?

I have seen tons of people that have the MAF right off the TB then have a cone filter. Of course I cant find pics now that Im wondering about it. Anyway I am a little confused on what size rubber connecter I will need, cause rubber will obviously stretch. The TB on my 02 6.0 is 4 inches. and the MAF is 3.5 Im told (havent bought it yet). So I wanna get the pieces to have this part of the swap out of the way. AN intake really wont work, its a rockcrawler with no inner fenders. I also need to figure out what size cone filter (3, 3.5) to go on the MAF. Thanks for any advice.

So, since it is a rockcrawler, it will be a homemade setup with the factory MAF? Measure the O.D. (outter diameter) of the TB. Then take the MAF with you to Home Depot and match it up with black plastic couplers in the plumbing section. As for the cone filter, take the MAF with you to a performance shop that sells a lot of filters--ask the manager if you can start opening boxes and see which one fits on the MAF... I know that is the redneck way to do it, but it is the best and fastest way to get it done. No down time for people to call you back, no shipping down times, etc.

My MAF was 3". i went to Lowe's and bought some black rubber plumbing fittings that were 4" to 3", and they worked perfect.

i had to elbow off of the TB with a 4" elbow, use a small piece of 4" PVC into one of the 4" to 3" fittings, then went to the MAF, then went through one of the fittings, through another small piece of 4" PVC, then up to the 4" cone filter.

    very redneck...lol

Yea, I meant no kit, like FIPK. But I just left my buddys house who has a brand new K&N in the box that he will give to me and its 3.5" ID so I will try and make it work with that, think I will have to use a 4" 90 though. I guess I really just need to buy a MAF as my motor didnt come with it.

The Fbody MAF is 3-9/16 if I remember correctly. I have 3.5" aluminum tube going from the MAF to a huge K&N filter. See photo below.

Well, i went to lowes and home depot and neither place has a rubber coupler for my 3.5" MAF. I guess I wil look for a plumbing supply.
