hm thats wierd about my PM's.. the reason I called is because I was just wondering if you had taken the valve covers/front timing cover off for a reason. It was just odd that they were lossely on their, and that I needed to put gaskets on those.

Also, what year intake manifold did you give me? It seems to only have one fuel line, and I have two coming off of my truck.

Ducky I have an intake manifold off of a 04 6.0 which has two fuel line connection comming off of the drived side fuel rail...i believe this would make it a fuel return system....you can have it if you want it...it will need a through cleaning since it came off of a flood vehicle.....if this will help you out let me know

heck, its been so long im not even sure why i had the front cover off. if memmory serves right thats the cover that i took off of the Ls1 so i could use my newer cover becaues i was 100% that my gasket was fine...im 95% sure that the gasket on that cover is fine too. i wouldnt wory about it. i didnt even realize that it was a returnless fuel rail on the intake. sounds like gator has the hookup though

Ducky, make sure you put your crank pulley on before you tighten the front cover.

Yeah there actually wasnt a gasket at all on the front, but its no worries I replaced those and the valve covers anyway

Yeah the crank pulley was on, I actually meant the back cover was off of the engine.

The intake I have is brand new, I wonder if I could like switch it out at the dealership for another one. I doubt they will let me do that. But that 04 intake you have, how bad of a shape is it in? Also my engine is an 01, so wouldnt I need to take the throttle body off the 01 and put it on the 04?

If my memory serves me right the seal lip faces inward so when you push it on it has a tendency to pop outward. I used a piece of string to walk around the flange and pop it back out then I installed all the cover bolts finger tight with the oil pan on with the gasket, the oil pan was already TQ'ed down to spec then I aligned the two bottom bolts and eye-balled the gasket to make sure it wasnt off bad then tightened everything down. I wish I had that kent moore tool set, one day I will have it.

The rear seal comes with an installation tool from GM. That's what that white thing is in the middle. Leave it in the middle and just push the seal onto the crankshaft.

The only thing that I replaced on that rear cover was the gasket when I went to take the broken bolt out of it..
