What are my options? Supercharger, Turbo??

    Hey guys,

I have been searching and searching... and have found alot of great info!!!

    My main question is this.

I just bought an 07 Silverado Crew cab Sierra 1500. It has the 5.3L with an Auto. I have added a catback gibson exhaust, and lifted the truck 6" and put 35's on the truck. This is where the trouble lies... because now it literally feels like I have lost 100 HP. At this point, a power adder is needed and Im torn between either a supercharger or Turbo. Im really only looking for reliability with the most power increase. I do have a race car and some dirtbikes so I do tow pretty frequently.

What are my options? Magnacharger? Vortech? Turbo? I'm hoping some of you guys have some real life experience with any of the above, and can lead me in the right direction. what is the best, most reliable way to get an extra 100 HP?

I'd go with an intercooled supercharger. Kennebell or Magnacharger.

You need to first get the gearing back. Put at least some 4.10s in that thing, maybe even 4.56s since you went to the huge tires.

Exactly what Red said. If you haven't changed gears yet, nothing is going to really get the power back until you do. I would definitely go at least 4.56's with 35's, especially if you're gonna tow.

That is an idea I didnt even think about, I have 3.73's in the truck now so Im thinking 4.56's.. I just dont think I will see that noticable of a difference from going to a 4.10.

What does a new one cost? I always hate buying used unless Im getting a deal that can't be passed up... On average how much does a new one cost? I think if it even comes down to 1k difference I would rather not chance it, and have the piece of mind of getting a brand new unit, compared to one with almost 40k miles.

Just put in the 4.56's and an auburn locker since the rear end was apart... really woke up the truck... thanks again guys..

I also PM'd the guy selling the unit... after looking around, 3600 is a great deal, I just wanted to see what else will I need to make the kit work. Fuel pump if he doesnt want to take his out, misc gaskets that can be trashed when removing the kit, tune etc..
