I've been going back and forth on the turbo decision. Do I do one big turbo or two smaller ones?
Well, after throwing around ideas for a long time, I just dove into it and decided to do twins. This stuff is a lot easier than what I was expecting. This only took 2hours, but it's also only tack welded.
It's not much, but I built a simple header for the drivers side. I figured if I could build a header for the driver side and get it around the steering and engine mount, I'd easily be able to build the passenger header. The passenger side has all kinds of room.
The header is made from 16g mild steel, but it's just a mock up. The collector will be cut off, about 2 more inches, then I'll add a 3" U-bend on top of it, weld the flange on and then bolt the turbo on.
The passenger side will look the same.
Once I get it all done, I'll rebuild it in stainless steel and finally be done.
The mock up has plenty of room, the plugs clear and I should be able to route some custom plug wires around the headers.

Here are a few pics.

Any suggestions on turbo sizing, wastegate options, intercooler routing, websites for parts, is greatly appreciated!

Damn Allen, Why did you make me have to look at something like that!! Now I'm gonna have to do something similar after I get up and running. I think you'll be fine with those unless your wanting to go 1500 HP or better. LOL

BTW, I was needing to see what coils you had. Thanks for the pics, now I might be able to get your brackets going.

i never knew you could make your header turned 180 degrees like you have it. is it possible to do two rear mount turbos or do you have to have them mounted in the front?

hey ducky, sure, it doesn't matter which way the exhaust flows, especially for a turbo. Yes, it sure is, I was actually thinking about that before I decided on this. You'd simply make or buy some shorty headers and bolt the turbo right to the collector, with a little fabrication of course.

Hey Nitrous, it's not my fault, lol, jk. Glad the pics helped on the bracket design. It'll look nice and clean with the coils on the back of the head and smooth valve covers.

thanks guys,

ya, it was very quick, I was really surprised. I will get the other side done tomorrow. I tried tonight, but I just have too much email to answer, got to put the business first. I'll sneak some time in for the ol truck tomorrow evening though.

see you two guys soon,

Looks good, Allen Once you get it designed you can send them out to have them mass produced and you can market them to others. I like the single turbo idea for simplicity's sake but I'm sure what you're doing is going to work great. I can't wait to see the truck on the track again! Did John ever get your wiring harness installation finished?
