    oil pan

ok guys i just got a 5.3L motor from an 07 Envoy Denali and it has a front sump oil pan, with the dip stick hole on the oil pan. My question is does anyone know which oil pans are rear sump and have the dip stick in the oil pan. i already pm GG and we cant find one with the dip stick in the pan. the L33 have the same pan as the iron block. here is a picture of my oil pan with the dip stick in the pan, any help is appricated.

Maybe the block has the hole for the dipstick for the rear sump?

I just looked at my motor and it looks like there a hole that can be punched for the dip stick on the motor but im not sure. i dont want to drill in the block but give me your opinion, look at the pictures thanks.

That is it! Knock that plug out and buy a dipstick tube and stick. Then get a truck or f-body oil pan, windage tray, and pickup tube.

do you know what size drill bit will i need. also does the dip tubing just push in. is it like the old gen1 with a piece of tubing in the motor and then the dip stick housing and dip stick.

It just pushes in and has an "O" ring seal around it then it bolts to the head to secure it. Real easy to take in and out not a pressed fit. I don't know the drill size.

just pull the dipstick tube out and match it to a drill bit, thats pretty nifty stuff there, i guess they had to put it in the pan due to clearance issues

It kind of looks like it has a plug in it. can you bead blast the hole clean or scrape it out? It looks like they pressed an aluminum plug into the hole, sort of.

    Yeah ^^^

Might also be able to pop it out from the inside with the pan removed. The pan has to come off anyway.

Just take a center punch and knock it out from the inside out, I ran into this problem with my swap cause the LS2 came out of a TBSS and had the same oilpan with the tube in the front in the pan. Its super easy. Dont try and drill it out, just punch it out, it comes out easy too.
