Buy a Chevy, there's an idea.
^^^ Maybe next year if this economy get Better. I thought about Chevy parts (PowerGlide) but I want to be able to Drive it to the Valley and Back
=) Just kidding with you. I don't know my Turds, so I can't be much help.
Tie it to something and when the light goes green, have someone real quick cut the rope
Line lock? Hydro Boost brakes? Proportioning valve...just a couple of ideas.
Thanks for the Help pl4boy
better idea with ur setup may help.... headersize... turbo size..t4? how bigs your stall and what brakes do you have now?... u have a Stock rear axle? or already have a 9" ? .... can u footbrake any boost at all ?> I have TONS of idea and tricks since i have been messing with this Rear mount turd of mine
Stock brakes, axle stock besides posi trac, Turbo size 88 might change it to a 78 Billet since PT say it should Spool better and make More power, Stall will be a PI 3500, Header size will have to see what they are, And what is the T4??
you can lock off the fronts so all the pressure from the master cylinder goes to the rears... i think
yup line lock be the only thing
I was thinking upgrading to two double piston calipers on each side for the back maybe?
I could see the benefit of a line lock keeping you from creeping forward but your concern about the burnout is valid. I'm not sure how much you could stall up without breaking the rears loose with a line lock...in other words, I'm not 100% sure how they work re: braking action on the rear.
With a line lock to lock out the rears, all you would do is spin in place IF the fronts could hold it there. Maybe it's time for a tranny swap to something that DOES have the options for a trans brake.
EDIT: Look what I found. http://www.lentechautomatics.com/e4odtb.html
I want to make it as easy as possible to stall it without having to brake it and e-brake at the same time to hold the truck! What about a two step??? What do ya think about it?? Will it Work???
From research, a two setp is what most L guys are using.
Two-step is what you need. Once you hit the rpm that it is set at only half the cylinders are firing. The brakes will hold easy then. Much easier on the drive train too, since everything is pre-loaded.
Thanks for the Help guys, I will keep ya posted when my trucks out and running
A lot of people are doing it on L's... sec, I'll use my super duper search engine to find it again.
First: contact info for the T-brake http://www.lentechautomatics.com/contact.html
Secondly, an L using a two step.
YouTube - Steve Cooper Ford Lightning
Just do a little research and you should find what you're looking for.
If I could Afford it my Lightning would look like Steve's but I would have to sell the House for it. So is the two step Street Friendly??
a dual caliper setup on the rear would help...somethin like flaco has i believe
From What I got from the Lightning Guys on Lightningrodder is that Johnny Lightning was one of the last guys to try this with Poor Results! Most of them are on the Foot brake and E-brake to hold the Truck. I'm still going to look at this in alittle deeper to see what I find. Thanks guys for all the Help
They only work when they are engaged, so they work fine on the street. A 2-step is only used at the track. You stand on the brakes and hit a momentary switch. Then you floor the gas pedal. When the rpms hit the preset limit they will not go any higher. every other cylinder will fire and then they will alternate. When you release the brakes all cylinders will fire.
A two-step has no affect on street manners if you don't use it on the street. You arm and disarm as well as set it.
