Which one should I go with?
Why not front-mount LQ9?
Money my friend....Money
I saw it. $4700ish.
And prolly a cam like the one Banker has for sale
232/234 .595/.598, lsa112
Spray eventually? I think the voting is a little incomplete since it doesn't really list where you want to go with either set-up. David's rear mount hauls butt...Virgil's motor on spray does the same thing. If all you're wanting is a quick DD that never sees the track, I'm thinking the cammed 6.0 would last longer (purely opinion...I could be completely wrong). If you want a track monster, a cam-only 6.0 might be a little disappointing.
If I had to vote just based on the two options above, I would pick rear-mount. But, than again, I'm turbo biased. I've never had a cammed 6.0...my :twocents:
David's kit is the one I was planning on buying. But an Lq9 sounded like another option. It will many be a street truck. It wont see the track much. The whole turbo scene has mer a little scared because everyones #7 is going tits up.
Well the Lq9 puts down 345hp stock then you add the cam, tune and headers. It should run pretty good.
I just need to find one
2000 Silverado ECSB- 5.3 CAI, Pacesetter LTs, ORY- Pipe, Flowmaster 50 series, E-fan, Ported T/B , Nelson Tuned, Built 4l60e, Circle D Stall, 3.42s G80, 2-4 Drop, Hertz Highs, Rockford 501s *Next* TURBO, 4L80e, and Tru Trac
i take it, youre wanting this for the 2000 ecsb?
do you not think the 5.3 would work for ya? with head work and a decent 220/220 or 226/226 cam ?
what size stall do you have?
get the true trac foresure and i would do a gear swap also 3:73 or 4:10's
or go 6.0 doesnt matter if its a lq9 or lq4, i hadnt raced my ecsb since i swapped to a rcsb, but i can honestly stay ot aint slow, with a stock motor flt trans dynatech headers, and a sweet tune :) by the way its a lq4 with stock gears lol with dual exhaust ;)
i got to street race this truck ECSB) one time, and it was against a fully bolted ecsb if i had to guess it was a 5.3 cause i walked him like he was standing still :)
basically you gotta ask yourself how fast ya wanna go and what would my ( your ) goals would be. putting together a fast ecsb isnt easy, theres very very few that i know of that run NA stewart being one and ap2002 being the other. the big picture is staying daily driven :(
then again just hook up the NOS and be done with it lol
I just want a 13 sec truck. My truck feels quik to me now. But I want more.
Remember, the leaner you tune it, the more likely #7 will pop. My wideband hovers in low 11 with water/methanol at WOT and my 4.8 never misses a beat. And if you look at my sig, I made close to 500tq with 11psi and i've bumped the boost up since then. There are a few components on the STS system I have modified cuz their kit needs a few tweeks.
any reason you'd be going with a rear mount as opposed to a front mount?
just curious.
Price
how much of a difference in price are you talkin?
Used rear mount 1500 not including supporting mods
Front Mount 5000 not including supporting mods
Cammed 6.0 1000ish
6.0
Thats what im goin for G. I figure Ill just drive my truck with the 5.3 while im building the 6.0 Gonna do cam and maybe heads. What heads should I go with? Stock wise?
243s....or P&P 317s
Any idea what my compression would be? I have an all late model silverado salvage yard right down the road from me. So I dont think I will have any problems gettin parts.
nope idk crap like that man.
That Makes 2 of us....lol
if your going to spend that money on a sts turbo setup you might as well buy an 418 stroker and put your 5.3 heads on it
Little late, since you have already decided. If you want to haul a$$ and get great mpg get the STS. If you want to be in the middle of the pack do the larger motor and cam.
