yeah, it doesnt have to be lower than the fuel cell outlet.
According to Aeromotive installation instructions for the A1000:
"Gravity feed the pump by mounting it lower than and as close as possible to the fuel tank."
"Note: Failure to mount the pump lower than and close to the fuel tank may cause the pump to run
dry, resulting in extreme pump wear! Make sure the pump is located lower than and as close as
possible to the fuel tank, so that the pump is always supplied with fuel!"
Its looking good SC.
Thanks Chevy.
Just got off the phone with Aeromotive. I can move the pump up to be even with the bottom of the cell. So that will gain 3-4" at a minimum.
yeah, I always figured that as long as the inlet to the pump is just as high as the outlet from the tank you'd be fine. It really depends on how much fuel you keep in the tank. Liquids are going to flow to a point of balance. If the tank stayed full all the time you could mount the inlet of the pump as high as the top of the fuel level. The only reason for doing that is when the tank runs dry or gets below the fuel cell level. Once the fuel starts flowing it will continue to flow until it loses it's prime.
Tonight's progress:

Low oil pressure, thats not good :doofus:
Yep, need to ditch that 95* tstat too. Otherwise looks good.
Man im jealous! So i guess when im ready for my motor swap, i can just drop my truck off at your house? Haha
are you going to be running the hidden coil packs.
Great job SC! If you need help let me know but it sounds like you have all the help you need!
Im really not shur about this but isent having a remote coil pack kind of defeat the purpose of having coil packs since your spark plug wires will be different lengths. having all the same length spark plug wires is what the individual coil pack were made for. Im probably way off here but thats what i just thought.
SC - looks AWESOME man...really nice work, I love it. :thumb:
Yes, I agree 39687163416684658468 per cent. But it does look kool.
For 100 years man has struggled with long and often damaged and burnt plug wires, looking for a solution to a blob of untidy and high resistance wires as well as all of the packaging problems they induce.
When someone in the upper ends of an American automobile manufacturer comes up with a design that is "un-costly" enough to put on half and 3/4 ton trucks, but fulfills all the previously mentioned needs....someone needs to revert to Model T F*** tech to hide the "ugly" coils because REAL AMERICAN MEN LOVE TO LOOK AT ROCKER COVERS!
:spit::ugh2:
Well I can't make myself cover up Daniel & Virgil's nice work, so they will be relocated!
Thanks for the comments guys. More pics later today.
OK - I reconfigured the fuel pump/filter setup. Raised the pump 4" so the inlet is flush with the bottom of the tank. Also installed a 90* fitting to wrap the filter closer to the tank. Put the cell in it's final home too.
Also put in the radiator and efans (thanks GG). Fans fit pretty well! Need to get hoses, and serp belt, and plug wires. Trans & oil cooler showed up too. :tacos:

Looking good. I think I'd take that radiator out and have it cleaned and pressure tested before using it. Better to do it now while in the build stage.
looks good SC! hey if you need another radiator I have an extra 28" radiator you can have. Still works good and everything
I would get a 34 Inch rad SC.
I have the 28" now, I don't think its going to hold up once the motor isn't stock.
Greggo has good advice on the radiator. Glad the secret fans worked and for the price...? Well, it's OK. Did Jon get the harness built after our digital conference? He did reply to me that he was straight up on my info.
They came of a W Impala.
Looking Badass SC.
Thanks D. maybe someday you can paint the whole truck!
Love the build and the info here. Just signed up to the forum. Got a 70 c10 and a 2005 lq9 this week. Can't wait to get started.
Brian
Thanks for the compliments.
A little update, but no pictures...
Got the fuel system up & running. Has problems getting pressure, then figured I had the check valve in backwards!! Swapped it around, and 40 psi. A turn or 2 on the regulator, and 60 psi it is. Damn that A1000 is loud!
Got the harness mostly installed, just need to hook up the starter signal wire, fan harness, finish up the voltage & fuel gauges, plugs & wires, oil & trans coolers and driveshaft. I have everything but the plug wires & exhaust on hand. Thanks to Jon @ Nelson Performance for helping me with my harness!!
just looked over the build. Looking good man!!!! like the little touches of color
and nothing wrong with hidden coil paks
