And what's the coolant line (1/4") that goes to the bottom and top of the throttle body? can i cap that off?
That goes to the cylinder head air bleed for the coolant. Most guys bypass the throttle body preheat tube(what your talking about) and return it back to the coolant stream. Mine is returned to a tapped hole near one of the heater hose connections on the water pump.

So my injectors don't seem to be opening, the motor's sat for 3 years, it fires with starting fluid, but not on fuel....how do i do the 12v to the injectors (1 at a time) trick to get them to free up? I can hear the pump turn on, and hear what sounds like fuel at the rail....maybe i'll try purging the fuel rail of air through the pressure check schrader valve.
i'd still like to know the injector trick.....if there is one.
12v goes straight to the injectors. You can put a momentary ground to the opposite side of the connector to fire it. You also could cut one connector off the harness and reconnect it later. Pull all the injectors off the fuel rail and feed straight fuel injector cleaner into the injector as you fire it by hooking 12v to one side of the injector and momentary ground to the other until you get a nice conical shaped pattern from the injector. I do that by placing a fuel pump in a can of cleaner, running a rubber hose from the pump to the injector and catch the spray in a seperate container. I know, sounds cheesy but it works.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(RedHeartbeat @ Jun 30 2007, 11:31 PM) </div>So....i thihk i'll try the first option....then the second....cause the first might not work right? hehehe....thanks!!Quote:

I've still got no fire on gasoline....are there any "easy" checks i can do to see if the injectors are working? Or should i just pull the fuel rails and check em that way?
thanks in advance
question 1... is there fuel pressure, 50 psi, at the fuel rail when you attemp to start it.
question 2... is there 12v going to the injectors when the key switch is in the "ON" position.
question 3... has the VATS been disabled in the PCM
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(RedHeartbeat @ Jul 2 2007, 07:22 AM) </div>1) i don't know, i'll check itQuote:

2) i don't know i'll check it
3) Yes, Nelson had my PCM and did the tune and removed all VATS and emissions for me.
Can i run 8.1L injectors for added horsepower? are they a direct swap in? Delphi part number 25343789
Injectors don't add HP(unless your current ones are filthy or plugged), they only unleash what's already there if your current injectors are maxed out.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(RedHeartbeat @ Jul 3 2007, 10:52 AM) </div>then what's all the hype about 60lb injectors over stock whatever injectors? i don't get any gains anywhere for any reason running "bigger" or i guess "heavier" injectors?Quote:

bigger injectors are to supply more fuel if you're adding big cam, heads, turbo, supercharger.... any time you make more power you need the ability to feed it fuel or you run into the danger of running lean and burning the engine up. 60 lb injectors are for the guys dreaming of 600+ HP from their engines. My 42 lb injectors work great for 500 engine HP. If you're not adding more components to build more HP then larger injectors really aren't needed. On a trail jeep I wouldn't do much to the engine, you're starting out with a great engine already and once you start changing out parts like cams you end up losing low end grunt.

Well i checked everything,
i've got 60psi at the rail
i've got 12v at the injectors (pink wires)
but i don't have any O2 sensors hooked up....would that shut the PCM off? just a thought...
Have you tried firing the injector outside the intake?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(RedHeartbeat @ Jul 4 2007, 08:03 AM) </div>No cause i'm lazy and don't feel like taking the fuel rail off...i'll work in that next....Quote:

You can soak the whole injector but it might go KABOOM! when you try to dit dit dit  Don't do it!
Turn the injector upside down and lightly tap it on a board to free up a stuck pintle. The injectors have a small filter in the top of them, see if it's clogged. You can apply compressed air to the nozzle end to blow any debris out of the filter. It will help if you dit dit dit the injector while blowing air through it.
i hear a ka-boom comming....

I did "soak" them....not submerged though, i stood them up in a container that had about 1/2" of cleaner in the bottom of it, then i used a straw and filled the injectors from the top to soak overnight. I'll still empty them and let them dry before hooking juice up to them ! ! ! i don't wanna KA BOOM them, hehehe
i think i'm on the right track...those things were NASTY inside...
i don't think any of my injectors are firing...i've got them out, i've tried the dit dit dit, i soaked them all night...

is the center circle on the injector like an intake valve, where it opens up, or is gas just supposed to shoot out the 2 tiny holes on the tip (same view)
It's supposed to fire out of the two little holes. Did you turn them upside down and tap them on the table?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(RedHeartbeat @ Jul 12 2007, 04:55 PM) </div>No, i tapped them the other way....uh oh... :-DQuote:

if time isnt critical, you can send them to me (i have an injector dyno)
i can test them and sonic clean them too.. one day turn around.
im in north little rock, arkansas
PM me, ill get you an addy..

youve got PM.
i got your injectors... not good chuck21387

were hitting' on all eight.\
well soak 'em overnight to get the crud outta 'em.

but you know what airdeano? for all your hard work, i'll let you keep the sludge in the bottom of the cleaner! really, i can't say a big enough THANK YOU for what you did!!
Guys....this guy is "da man" and here at work, if you get 3 "da man's" before quittin time, you get to go home early :-) i've made it to two once...so here's your first one for the day! YOU DA MAN!

new forum look.. turn on PM's and reset your options FYI

Cable
the butterfly's not open at all...Idle air controls working, (removed it and pressed it in, then turned key to "on" and it came out, then back in, back out (doing it's check)) Pulled throttle position sensor, looked imaculate! worked it a few times, installed it again.
still runs high...really high...
Edit: i called Nelson, and left a message...we'll see what they say....i did get the auto tranny tune, but meant to get the manual tranny tune...would that make it have a higher idle because of the torque convertor load?
chuck,
they do run with gasoline...
plug the IAC hole in throttle body. check idle,
if still high vacuum leak. check the rear of
manifold for power brake supply (large 3/8" leak).
