hey guys, i was just wondering what could be wrong with my truck. its sitting in my driveway and my driver side rear is way down from the pass rear. it leans hard to the left. it looks like i have a 4 inch drop on one side, and a leveling shackle(2inch) on the the pass side. it hasnt been like this forever, and when i look at my leaf springs it looks like my rear shackle is way closer to my bottom of my bed on the drivers side. any idea what may be wrong?!

chevy lean.. i've got it, but not as severe as your case. i've got a quarter inch difference though.

drivers side rear sits lower for some reason. i'm not bothered.

When i bought this truck it had a bad lean. When i put my rear sway bar on it leveled it out. You may want to try that before you spend hundreds on suspension. The hellwig rear sway bar that i purchased was $190 after shipping.

had to dig for this post. i cant believe i didnt see it when u posted it. thanks for the information! i dont knwo much about the sway bars, but if it will fix it i think ill try it pretty soon. it is now on my wishlist haha. im wondering if i get new leafs and shocks if itd cure the problem. also would stiffer shocks help prevent wheel hop? if not may have to go with caltracs.

A sway bar will level out the rear end but if it already sags you need to level it first with re-arched springs or new springs. You loose adjustment if you try to use the sway bar to do what the spring should. Shocks are not for leveling either, they are properly called vibration dampners. They stop the oscillation in a spring when the spring "fle'x's" from hitting a bump/hole. From what I have seen and heard Cal-Tracs do their job, only stop the wheel hop. If your springs are already weak the cal-tracs will have to work that much harder to stop the flexing in your springs.

IMHO get new springs then work on the cal-tracs and shocks.....

You will need to people to help with putting the sway bar on. Or if you have a tall jack stan that will help. The sway bar that i told you will allow for drops on the rear. To answer you question about the leaf springs and shocks that will help. Also if you are still getting wheel hop after the sway bar and new shocks then you will need to go with caltracs. I am running monroe reflex shocks and those are great. They have the same technology as the edelbrock for lots less and you can buy them at advanced auto parts.

Shwarmy, did your sway bar go forward or back? Did you have to drill or cut anything?

I replaced both front and rear. The one i am referring to i put in the rear. It requred no drilling. The sway bar bolts onto the axle and the rear cross member. When i put it on this new truck i bolted it first to the axle and then i bolted it to the passenger side cross member. Then when i went to bolt it to the drivers side i could really notice how far it was dropped on that side. I had my friend lift that side of the truck so i could bolt it on straight. When i got done and i stepped back and looked at it, it had leveled it out.

IMHO GM needs to make rear sway bars optional on these trucks.
1. Distributes the weight equally between the shocks.
2. Reduces roll.
3. Better handling.

Are the "struts" from the end of the bar to the body adjustable?

I agree with sway bars, now I can take a corner with minimal roll and also the wheel spin/side shift from 1st to 2nd shift wot was practically iliminated
