ok as im sure 99% of u know i have a 99 rcsb, the guy doing my engine swap says i need an oil cooler, but i dont have an oil temperature gauge. i figure if im gonna get a cooler, might as well have the gauge too, so does anyone have any idea if i can put like a silverado ss cluster in my truck being that my truck is a 99??? also if i go aftermarket can i just mount one on my dash by the passenger side air bag on/off switch??? brandon has his boost gauge here, so im sure thats possible!

If you have an overhead console look at the SoCalDeisel site and they make a gauge holder that fits in the console. If you get the 34" radiator you can get one with the oil and transmission cooler already in the radiator and add the electric fans with the extra cooler outside of that.....

maybe later down the line, but right now i dont see why the 28 inch radiator wont work so it stays. the oil cooler i listed is what im goin with since i see no benefit of doin anything else. its what jegs and summit both recommend for chevy v8's. later down the line i MAY get the 34 inch radiator, and efans but right now im on a tight budget and what i got so far will work.

Hey man, the oil cooler really isnt ness. The reason why he is wanting you to buy one is because the 6.0 blocks have the "oil cooler" which means that your lq4 has a plate right above the oil filter with two lines running out. Most people who do the 6.0 swap just put on the blockoff plate which comes on the 5.3 motors. SOOO if you wanna save some cash just run to the dealer and buy the oil "cooler" block off plate..

If you are wondering why the 6.0's have the oil cooler plate it is because the 6.0's are ussualy in vehicles that tow. Towing brings up the oil temps.

just thought id let ya know since you stated your budget is tight.

yea man no problem, I know of several people that have 6.0's some that run 12's and they dont use an oil cooler. If your not going to tow a damn backhoe or something theres no need for one. And your reg cab truck will not put a strain on that motor so if i were you just put that money elsewhere!

FYI the blockoff plate is on the 4.8's as well.
