I had my exhaust comming out the side before the rear tire till a piece of metal in the road ripped it off. When i had my exhaust like that it sounded pretty damn cool!
You can pull up next to people and blast them with your loud ass exhaust and see them get pissed off! Especially if they are on their cell phone you can drop it into a lower gear and they cant hear shit but your truck! I used to do that all the time to those non driving white collared fags in their BMW's and see how they would try to road rage me.
Also the sound is great in a parking lot where there are several cars with alarms especially if you park next to one. I used to love it when someone would pull into a parking spot next to me when i was about to leave. Then give my truck some gas as i start it right as they got out. You get to watch them jump damn near back in their car!
The sound gets addicting though cause you will hear your exhaust get louder as you get next to something like a car or a highway embankment. You will find yourself rolling down the passenger side window just to hear it.
Draw backs are the sound is a lot louder if you have to ride in the back passenger seat. Another down side is how dirty your tips get. Plus if you get up close to the truck you probably wont even notice the tips. The lightning has ground effects that take away how the body rolls up under the truck letting Ford move the tips out from under that body roll lets you still see the exhaust tips under the truck when your right next to it. In order to make your tips visible when your next to the truck they have to stick out quite a bit making it look like one of those autoparts store special exhaust tips that you just add to the existsing pipe. I was going to redo my exhaust either the same way or out the back pointing down at an angle right before the bumper.
I had my old truck exiting out the back like that and I loved it. it was a pain in the ass to do it the way i did and it took me 4 hours but it was perfect and all the pipes were but welded together. It was never too loud and always sounded good
