Unhappy

I keep talking about gettin 4" lift spindles for my truck to get another inch (versus my 3" spindles) so I might be able to fit 37's under there, but every one I've asked says that the 4" aren't as strong because the axle arm is to low on the knukle body... Is this true? Is this a dangerous part? Anyone have them and have problems with your wheel falling off? Any feed back would be nice... (hopefully good)

I am not sure what your current setup is, but stuffing 37's under a truck takes a lot of lift. If ppl say its weak just think of what you will be using it for, any hard wheeling might break it.
Could you just get some new coils or get some coil spacers would that do the trick?

I ended up gettin the 4" spindles. Now it is a seven (7)" lift instead of six. My coils are as long as they can get, because the top a-arms are almost on the bump stops. I decided to stay with the 35's cause 37's are just too expensive! and I dont want to change the gear ratio again... Thanks for the advice though.

Can I get some specs on what you got bro? The truck's year make and model, the lift kit or custom kit, if it has fiberglass flares, junk like that... I am having a hard time understanding how you lifted this thing and why you can't fit bigger treads.

94 chevy 1500 w/ 5.7. 35" BFG muds, 7" S&S performance custom lift kit, (long travel) w/ upper, and lower arms, 3" spring, 4" spindles. GlassWorks front clip (fenders and hood). Still deciding what to do with the rear, leafs for now. Oh yea, flared rear quaters and bilstein 7100 resivoirs all around. It's not that I cant fit 37's, I just dont want them... Hope this helps. I'll take pics this weekend and post em.

Sweet!! As for the 4" lift spindles I would imagine that that is pushing what the bj's can handle unless you are using uni balls. It also puts your steering components at hellish angles and can cuz funking steering issues or even broken tie rods when running hard. (EDIT- This depends on the manufacturer though, some lower the tie rod mount a little to put it in line with the tire and others leave the mount high on the spindle to keep the angle good). Personally I would have stayed with 3" spindles and reworked the glass flares a bit (I am the master of making tires fit... haha). Anywho, 37's are kinda over rated. They aren' t the "perfect" tire for every application. For what you do, a 35 on a 17" rim would be sweet.

PS, you want a challenge, trying making 35's fit on an s-10.

Yea, the balljoints didnt last too long. After three trips to Kragen to replace em, uniballs were in the mail... Challenges huh? We fit 35" projects under a 1977 Cadillac El Dorado convertible!!! That is what we like to call REDNECK RACING!!!!(with an accent)
