    4 year lurker

Whats up guys, not so new guy here from Mass. I signed up back in 2010, read a few threads and then life got in the way. Well, here I am...again. A lot has changed since 2010, specifically the amount of knowledge that has made its way into this forum.

I have a 1998 2 door Tahoe with 4x4 and I'd love to swap in an LS engine one day. Truck currently has 130K miles on it and the engine and trans run perfect, which is somewhat keeping me from tearing into it. It is my DD all year long.

For me, it looks like the only part of this swap that may slow me down will be the wiring. Im still trying to get caught up to date with everyones new projects and see what road they went down for wiring options.

So, I'm looking forward to getting started on a new project and look forward to participating and learning from the veterans here.

Check out our custom wiring harnesses specifically made for these type of swaps.

Here is the link to all of our wiring harnesses, http://www.nelsonperformance.com/wiring

Basically, we offer an LSx, non-emissions, show quality engine harness that can be custom designed to your exact needs. Extra effort is made to ensure the harness layout comfortably fits the engine while maintaining an exact fit.

All harnesses are built with new, OEM connectors, terminals and seals. Every crimp is performed with approved tooling. This ensures 100% continuity throughout the entire engine harness.

    The harness includes:

    ■ Fuse box
    ■ OBDII diagnostic port with SES light
    ■ GM fuel pump relay
    ■ Easy 3-wire hook up
    • Ground
    • Power
    • Ignition

Let us know if you have any questions. If you do you can either give us a call or you can email Roy, my wiring tech directly at roy@nelsonperformance.com.

I assume this is a plug and play harness for the most part. What happens to the OEM harness and ECM I currently have in the truck? Does it stay in to control gauges, ABS, etc?
I do not want to fiddle around with repinning and cutting and splicing if I dont have to only because of time.

Our harness is a standalone harness and will run your engine and trans and for the most part plug and play. The only wiring you will be required to do is connect your Speedo and Tach outputs to your gauges, connect a small 18GA wire to an ignition source, and connect your fuelpump power wire. For more info feel free to send me an email at roy@nelsonperformance.com thanks.
