Hello All!
I have previously posted this question on another sight and was quickly referred to this sight to ask my question, So hoping someone can provide some guidance.
I am a new owner of a 2002 GMC Sierra short bed 2 wheel drive with a modified 5.3 and supposedly, a 4l65e transmission. I bought the truck with what seemed like a well built 5.3 with only 15,000 miles on it per the previous owner. I figured I could fix/change a few things to make it my ideal truck. In doing a bunch of preventative maintenance/work to make sure it is reliable I have discovered a major issue with the snout of the crank (keyway is elongated about 1" wide allowing the balancer to slip back and forth). This requires the bottom end be opened up and crank replaced, and repairs to be made. While everything is apart, I would like to remove the 3,600 stall converter that is (supposedly) in the truck. I would say the 3,600 is probably about right as it does stall up pretty high, but I would like to get back closer to a stock converter for driveability and better mileage. This is my daily driver. I am old school and this is first modified "modern" computerized vehicle. With that in mind, I am asking for your help to determine what converter to get. The following is a list of what I understand the modifications to be on the truck.
243 heads milled .0030, comp cam springs, trick flow push rods
flat top pistons
216-220 114 lobe center 560-560 lift cam
K&N Intake
80mm throttle body
greentop 42lb injectors
headers, custom exhaust with high flow converters
4l65e transmission with corvette servo yank (don't know what this is)
3600 stall converter
4.10 rearend gears
Thanks for any help and advice you are able to provide.
