Question Newbie here. 1988 Jimmy LS swap questions-

i have an '88 jimmy with a smokey 4.3 and was thinking about swapping an LS into it. We have a truck motor long block and i believe it's a 6.0. no wiring, it has the intake manifold and that's about it.

as far as the swap goes, are there any big things i need to be prepared for? i'm mainly concerned about the wiring harness and all of that stuff.

if you can post any links to diy/build threads or websites with conversion kits that'd be great..didn't seem to find too much in search.

Hi and welcome to the site. There's lots of guys here who can help with various questions you may have when they arise.

As for the wiring harness and PCM(computer), you can purchase these from Nelson or Street and Performance. You can also make your own from a factory wiring harness. A little time consuming but not impossible.

You will also need engine mounts and other obvious incidentals to get the engine shoehorned into you Jimmy. You will also need to get a decent trans to hold up behind the power of the 6.0 engine.

As for web sites, I found alot of info here:

    http://www.hotrodlane.cc/
    http://www.truckinweb.com/tech/1111t...evy_k5_blazer/

As you can see, there's lot of info here. You need to do your homework and make sure you have all the pieces of the puzzle before jumping into the swap. This will minimize down time of your vehicle while the swap is going on.

Good luck and don't be afraid to ask any questions.

ok awesome thanks. as far as the links, my car isn't a k5, its an s15 blazer... same body style as a typhoon, syclone etc but its bone stock. no turbo or anything. does that change anything about what you've already sent me?

It only changes the fact the the things you need will have to fit the S-10, not the K5 or full size truck. The procedure would be the same for either vehicle, just get the parts that make the LS fit into an S10.
